QC Implements 2 Water Projects in Pakistan, Bangladesh

 

 

Doha, May 03 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) announced Wednesday that it has implemented two water-related projects in Bangladesh and Pakistan, with the aim of providing safe drinking water and maintaining a clean environment.

    QC said that it built 70 hand pumps in the Khyber Pakhtunukwa province of Pakistan, where residents face great challenges in obtaining safe and clean drinking water in remote areas that suffer from the spread of infectious diseases due to water scarcity

    In this context, Director of Community Liaison for Water and Wastewater Services in Peshawar Muhammad Ismail said: "I am grateful to the people of Qatar and QC for providing safe drinking water. Government agencies are committed to QC in the way it contributes to the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector, through effective cooperation with the government".

    In Bangladesh, QC has completed the installation of hundreds of toilets in four districts, benefiting 3,000 rural residents. It aims to provide health facilities in rural areas in Bangladesh to protect natural resources and provide environmental safety and dignity for the residents of these areas.

    Over the past few years, more than 1.2 million people have benefited from this project in 20 districts in the south of Bangladesh and 8 districts in the north of the country.

    In this context, government official in Koira Upazila, Animesh Bishwash said: "QC is doing a great job in the water and sanitation sector, which is much needed in rural communities because they were suffering from various problems in obtaining clean drinking water and toilets, Healthy water."

    He added, "The remarkable progress in water and sanitation projects of QC contributes to achieving the sixth goal of the sustainable development goals by 2030, especially since Bangladesh needs to accelerate its efforts to ensure the improvement of drinking water and sanitation facilities."
