QRCS Implements Project to Provide Clean Drinking Water in Gaza Strip

Doha, July 16 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced its implementation of a project to provide clean drinking water in the Gaza Strip, as part of its interventions to develop the water and environmental sanitation sector in Gaza.
QRCS said in a statement on Sunday that it has constructed a water well for the Deir Al-Balah municipality and installed a solar power system at three water wells for the Beit Hanoun municipality, with the aim of improving water supply services for the target population.
QRCS noted that the QR 1.7 million project involved the installation of 215 solar panels for three wells in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, to reduce the recurrent power outages, which last for over 12 hours per day, adding that about 30,000 people will benefit from this intervention.
The construction will improve the severely inadequate domestic water supply, the statement added.
It is noteworthy that QRCS has already implemented many renewable energy projects, to ensure the continuity of services provided in the 17-year blockade, and these projects served health centers, local universities, and homes of many poor families across Gaza. (QNA)
