600 visitors attend AGU's Mental Health Exhibition

Manama, Mar. 26 (BNA): Students of the College of Medicine and Molecular Sciences rounded off their awareness campaign, entitled "Mental Health Between Concepts and Myths" which was launched recently on the occasion of the International Mental Health Day. The campaign was held at the Avenues Mall, where 600 people visited the campaign headquarters to learn more about all the scientific concepts related to psychiatry.
It's worth noting that more than 100 students from the College of Medicine and Molecular Sciences prepared an integrated psychiatric awareness exhibition that included a group of stations that sought to show the difference between mental health as science, misconceptions and popular myths.
This was done by providing the definition of the most common mental diseases such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, in addition to other phenomena such as hyperactivity and lack of attention, bullying. Through these stations, the visitors have briefed on the symptoms of these mental diseases and methods of prevention or treatment in the event of an occurrence.
The campaign also tested the degree of depression for a group of visitors to the exhibition and gave advice to a healthy lifestyle based on healthy nutrition and sports because of their impacts on improving the psychological state.
The Head of the Campaign, Iman Balushi said that the campaign had thrived to confirm that the mental diseases fall under the medical condition category like any other physical illness.
