Covid-19: Thailand Records 20,571 New Cases, 261 Fatalities
BANGKOK, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- Thailand reported 20,571 new COVID-19 cases and 261 fatalities over the last 24 hours, bringing the total infections and deaths in the kingdom to 1,030,281 and 9,087 to date.
In a statement, Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said the new cases include 20,557 local transmissions and 14 imported cases.
To date, it said a total of 202,230 patients remain hospitalised including 5,171 in critical condition and 1,123 depending on ventilator.
The statement said the new fatalities involved 139 men and 122 women aged between 15 and 109 years old including six Myanmar nationals, two Cambodians, one each Laotian, Chinese and Belgian.
“About 67 per cent fatalities involved those aged 60 years or older, 21 percent involved those with underlying health conditions and 12 per cent without underlying medical conditions,” it said.
Bangkok, the epicentre of the latest outbreak, topped the list with 4,342 new cases and 88 fatalities over the last 24 hours.
