Russian cosmonauts Ryzhikov, Kud-Sverchkov complete work outside the ISS
MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov completed work in open space outside the International Space Station (ISS) in preparation for the docking of the Nauka multifunctional laboratory module, the broadcast was conducted on the websites of NASA and Roscosmos.
For both astronauts, this was the first spacewalk in their careers. It was also the first extravehicular activity associated with preparations for the launch of the multifunctional laboratory module Nauka in April 2021.
Ryzhikov and Kud-Sverchkov went into space through the exit hatch of the small research module Poisk, which had not been opened for about 11 years. Previously, extravehicular activities on the Russian segment of the ISS were carried out from the Pirs docking compartment, but in 2021 the Pirs module will be flooded before launching the Nauka multifunctional laboratory module to the station.
