Thailand prepares budgets for medical development

BANGKOK, January 4 (TNA) - Ministries concerned are seeking state budgets to fund Thailand's medical development, covering the production of more medical experts to meet rising demand, as part of the country's preparations to become a regional medical hub in the future. Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Pongthep Thepkarnchana told reporters on Friday, after holding talks with Public Health Minister Dr. Pradit Sintanawarong and executives of Thai medical schools, that medical schools in the country are facing a shortage of budgets for their development plans, affecting their production of sufficient medical personnel and further improvement of their treatments and medical technologies. Pongthep said that the affected medical schools are seeking more state budgets to address the problems, covering those aimed to fund more medical research projects, acknowledging if the additionally-proposed budgets were approved, Thailand could become a regional medical hub in the future.
