Manama, Jan. 25 (BNA): The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) had its preparatory meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Labor and of Social Development to discuss initial stages to organize the first Baby Games in Bahrain. The Bahrain Baby Games is brought for the first time by the BOC, with kindergartens from all around the nation expecting to engage in a number of sports activities at Isa Sports Complex in Riffa. Lounes Madene, projects director of BOC, made a presentation for the attendees on the event, which is scheduled to take place in the beginning of April. Madene highlighted the objectives of the games and had discussions with the attendees on the suggested age of the participants and the sports for each age category. The attendees decided to submit the initial registration forms to all kindergartens, and that entries should be presented back to the organizing committee should be made by February 8. Other subjects brought up at the meeting included the awards to be presented to the winners in each sport, while no more than 2,000 kids are allowed to participate at this year’s edition of the games. This event will feature five different sports – athletics, gymnastics, football, basketball and weightlifting, and targets 2 to 4 years children in an attempt to create an awareness among youngsters to practice sports exercises, and promote the Olympic principles and values at a young age. The athletics programme includes a medley relay (4 years), hurdles race (3 years) and 15m freestyle race (2 years), while other parts of the programme include freestyle moves contests for gymnastics, a football free-kick, free throws basketball competition, and a weightlifting show.
