Bahrain Offers Training Facilities To Malaysian Women's Football, Futsal Squads
KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) - The national women's futsal and football squads received good news when they were offered use of facilities in Bahrain to hold training camps abroad in the future.
The offer was made by the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) during a meeting between its president, Sheikh Ali Khalifa Ahmed Al Khalifa and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Hamidin Mohd Amin in Riffa, Bahrain, Sunday night.
The meeting was also attended by BFA vice president Ali Ahmed Al Buainain and BFA secretary-general Ebrahim Saad Al Buainain as well as FAM deputy president Mohd Yusoff Mahadi.
According to an FAM statement, among the matters discussed in the meeting were current issues concerning football in the COVID-19 pandemic situation as well as cooperation between the two associations in terms of development and administration.
"FAM also thanked the BFA for assisting in the preparation of the training venue and accommodation for almost a week for the Harimau Malaya's (national squad) training in Bahrain," said the statement.
Hamidin, who is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), is currently with the Harimau Malaya in Bahrain for their final preparations ahead of their remaining three Group G matches in the Second Round of the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Malaysia, who lost 0-2 to Bahrain in a friendly at the Bahrain National Stadium on Friday, are scheduled to leave for Dubai Monday for the qualifying round against hosts the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on June 3, Vietnam (June 11) and Thailand ( 15 Jun).
