HARUMAFUJI BYAMBADORJ REACHES HIGHEST TITLE OF SUMO

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian wrestler Ozkei-titled Harumafuji D.Byambadorj has won the Emperor's Cup at the highest division of professional sumo wrestling.
He claimed the Cup for the fourth time at the autumn tournament, and also has satisfied a condition of receiving the Yokozuna title--the highest title of the professional sumo, after having 15 perfect wins without a lose. Thus, he will become the 70th Yokozuna-titled sumo wrestler, and third Mongolian to achieve the title. The State Honored Sportsmen Asashoryu Davgadorj and Hakuho Sho Davaajargal were the 68th and 69th Yokozunas in years 2003 and 2007, respectively.
On the final day of the tournament, Harumafuji defeated his countryman Yokozuna Hakuho Sho Davaajargal with a “shitatenage” (underarm throw).
During Harumafuji's win in the Nagoya tournament of July, the Japan Sumo Association discussed Harumafuji's ascent to the rank of Yokozuna. The Association determined that he would be promoted if he won 13 or more bouts in the Aki Basho, with added condition that he did not fall within the first 10 bouts. Harumafuji more than met this condition with a perfect 15-0 score. Harumafuji had previously attempted to earn this title twice before.
