NATIONAL AMATEUR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP CONCLUDES

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ A final round of the National Amateur Chess Championship, traditionally organized on the Day of Constitution of Mongolia under auspice of the Parliament Speaker, took place on January 7.
In woman’s category in which 33 amateur chess players competed, E.Odgerel, a citizen of Dornogobi aimag, won gold medal, followed by silver and bronze medal winners D.Tseesuren, a citizen of Ulaanbaatar city, and E.Munkh-Amgalan, a citizen of Umnugobi aimag. A special prize went to 63-year old M.Jargalsaikhan.
In man’s category, 91 chess players competed. G.Amarsanaa from Khentii aimag won gold medal, whereas G.Bat-Erdene, student of National University of Mongolia, and N.Galtsog, assistant to a Member of Parliament, won silver and bronze medals respectively. A special prize went to a 66-year old senior player B.Duurenbayar.
During the closing ceremony of the tournament, winners of gold, silver and bronze medals were announced to be granted with a title ‘Candidate Master’.
