Petronas Yamaha SRT Riders Eyeing Positive Results In Spain GP

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team (SRT) duo, Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli are vying for positive results in the MotoGP World Championship which resumes this weekend at the Jerez Circuit in Spain. Quartararo, who clinched first pole position during the qualifying session last year, however, remains optimistic on his chance to take a podium finish at the Spain Grand Prix (GP). “I’ve been cardio training a lot during the lockdown and even in the last few weeks. I haven’t trained a lot on the bike because I don’t want to take too many risks. “I’m feeling prepared for the race though and I remember the last run I did with the YZR-M1 (machine) at the Qatar test was a race simulation and I was feeling confident,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the team Wednesday. Morbidelli, who recently extends his contract with the team until 2022, on the other hand, hoped the positive results he scored during the MotoGP pre-season tests in Qatar and Malaysia early this season would be the major boost for him to put up a better performance at this weekend's race. “We need to get up to speed quickly as there isn’t too much time before the race on Sunday to get familiar with the bike again. “Every race in MotoGP is challenging but this one will be challenging for different reasons. It’s going to be the same for everyone though so there isn’t going to be any advantages or disadvantages for anyone," according to the 25-year old Italian who finished in seventh in the Spain GP last season. Recently, Dorna Sports, the holder of MotoGP's exclusive commercial and television rights have revamped the 2020 MotoGP fixtures which saw Jerez Circuit hosting back-to-back Spain GP this weekend and the Andalusia GP, next weekend. -- BERNAMA
