Sports Contest of Diplomats to DPRK Held

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- A sports contest among members of the Diplomatic Corps in the DPRK took place at the Rungna People's Sports Park in Pyongyang on October 11-16 for the fourth time. In the contest divided into five teams, competitions were made in such events as volleyball, basketball and football. The volleyball and basketball titles were taken by the Mongolian embassy team. Present to watch the final football match on Sunday were Kung Sok Ung, former vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other honorary guests, officials concerned, representatives of foreign embassies and international bodies to the DPRK, family members of embassy officials and sports fans. In the football match, the Russian embassy team beat the team comprising of embassies of Asian, African and Latin American countries. Prizes were awarded to the successful teams and individuals. There was also a show of national dishes prepared by families of foreign diplomats. The sports contest marked an important occasion in further deepening friendship. -0-
