Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Names of Mongolian athletes who are to participate in the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games have been revealed finally. The Mongolians will compete in the archery, athletics, boxing, judo, shooting, swimming and wrestling events. The team for judo has the largest number (nine judoists), followed by the freestyle wrestling team (eight wrestlers). The boxing team has four boxers in men's contests. The archery, athletics, shooting and swimming teams has two athletes each. A State Honored Sportsman and long-distance runner B.Ser-Od has been selected as the flag bearer. Mongolia first participated at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 1964, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except when they participated in the Soviet-led boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics. Mongolia has also participated in the Winter Olympic Games since 1964, missing only the year of 1976. As of present, Mongolia has nineteen medals in total, all from Summer Olympics competitions, namely in freestyle wrestling and judo. Prior to the 2008 Summer Olympics, Mongolia had had silver and bronze medals only. The first gold medals in judo and boxing were grabbed in Pekin Games. Apart of this, six athletes will represent Mongolia at the London Paralympic Games. ** ** ** Young Mongolians took 3rd place in the 5th Children of Asia International Sport Games which ran July 4-15 in Yakutia, Russia. They grabbed nine gold, nine silver and 24 bronze medals in 16 sport events. The Children of Asia International Sport Games, organized by the Administration of Children of Asia International Sports Games under auspices of the International Olympic Committee and of UNESCO, are held every four years and is attended by about 5,000 participants from more than 20 Asian countries and 27 Russian regions.
