Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Mongolian taekwondo athletes successfully competed in the 3rd Asian University Taekwondo Championship which took place on October 11-13 in Kota Kinabalu city, Malaysia.
This year's tournament attracted taekwondo fighters from nine countries, including Mongolia being coached by N.Erdenebaatar.
A student of the University of Agriculture M.Tumenbayar grabbed a silver medal in the men's 54 kg contest; N.Dolgormaa (Mongolian State University of Education) also won a silver in the women's 49 kg contest. Bronze medals were won by M.Myagmarbayar (men's 58 kg) and G.Oyun-Erdene (women's 53 kg).
As the team results, the national university team of Thailand topped the tournament, winning seven gold, two silver and one bronze medals. This country was followed by Kazakhstan who captured three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Mongolians won three silver and one bronze medals in the Junior and Youth World Championships for Sambo Wrestling held last weekend in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The championships brought together young wrestlers from 28 countries.

Recently founded Mongolia's Federation of Curling has launched a programme on selecting athletes to comprise a national selected women's team to compete in international tournaments.
