Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Mongolian sumo wrestlers have grabbed four gold, four silver and four bronze medals in the Sumo World Championships which took place on October 27-28 in Hong Kong.
A former professional sumo wrestler G.Naranbat (Maenoyu) became the twice World champion of sumo after grabbing the gold medal n the open class contest. R.Gantogs also won a gold in the men's 85 kg contest at the highest division. Moreover, O.Monkhtsetseg (women's -80 kg) and Kh.Sunjidmaa (women's +80 kg) won silver medals; and U.Byambajav captured a bronze medal in the men's +115 kg contest.
Gold medals went to B.Serik (boys' -100 kg) and D.Azzaya (boys' +100 kg) at the junior division. Ts.Ankhbayar (boys' -80 kg) and N.Torbold (open class) grabbed silver medals; and N.Selenge and M.Buuvei (girls' +75 kg) won bronze medals.
The sumo wrestlers were headed by O.Togoldor, the secretary-general of Mongolia's Sumo Wrestling Federation, and coached by Ts.Shiirev and Ts.Myagmarsuren, coaches for the selected team.

The national women's selected team for judo took 5th place in the Judo Team World Championship on October 25-27 in Salvador-de-Bahia, Brazil.
The Mongolian team defeated Ukraine and the Republic of Korea in the first two rounds. At the repechage round for a bronze medal, the Mongolian team was beaten by the team of Brazil. The men's team was defeated by rival from the Republic of Korea in the first round.
The teams of Russia and Japan won gold medals in the men's and women's contests.

A State Honored Sportsman and professional boxer Choi.Tseveenpurev will fight for the World champion title of the IBO against an Indonesian Daud Chino Yordan on November 9 in the Marina Bay Sands resort, Indonesia.
Former world champion of the two associations Choi.Tseveenpurev nicknamed “Mongolian Warrior” has been professionally boxing for 16 years. As of today, he got 36 wins (24 wins by KO) out of 41 fights.

A State Honored Sportswoman of Mongolia and twice Olympic bronze medalist for shooting D.Monkhbayar (now citizen of Germany) won a silver medal in the last series of the 2012 ISSF World Cup held last week in Bangkok city, Thailand.
Representing Germany, she competed in the women's 25 m pistol contest, and grabbed her silver medal after collecting 791.3 points. A shooter from the Republic of Korea and 2012 Olympic champion Kim Jang-Mi won a gold medal in this contest with 793.2 points, and bronze medal went to Chen Ying from China.
Mongolia was not represented in the World Cup.
B.Khuder
