Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A judoist D.Altansukh won a bronze medal in the World Cup tournament for men. The events took place last week in Austria.
He was only Mongolian to win a medal among others from the national team of Mongolia. Although he had a loss to a Japanese opponent at the first round, he grabbed his medal after defeating rivals from Germany and a countryman A.Batsuuri at the repechage round.
Meanwhile, female judoists participated in the Women's Judo World Cup competitions that ran last weekend in Budapest, Hungary. A Mongolian D.Sumya won a bronze medal at the 57 kg contest. She had a bye at the first round, and then defeated her rivals from Germany, Switzerland, Cuba and Bulgaria. At the silver medal contest, she was beaten by a Japanese. Other women did not grab medal.

Mongolian judoists took upper places in the International Judo Federation's (IJF) world judo ranking list in several weight categories, updated on February 8, 2012.
The rankings were made after results top judoists had showed at the World Cups, Grand Prix, Grand Slam and Masters tournaments.
A State Honored Sportsman Kh.Tsagaanbaatar has been ranked 2nd in the men's 66 kg category with 1,198 points. He followed a Russian Musa Mogushkov who collected 1,280 points. Another Mongolian S.Miaragchaa has been ranked 8th in this weight category with 866 points.
Three Mongolians--D.Tomorkhuleg (700 points), Ch.Boldbaatar (546 points) and G.Boldbaatar (536 points)--have been ranked among first 22 places in the men's 60 kg category.
An international master of sports S.Nyam-Ochir has taken the 6th place in the men's 73 kg category at the updated list with 880 points. He has grabbed a big point thanks to winning a gold medal in the Paris Grand Slam.
A State Honored Sportsman and Olympic champion N.Tuvshinbayar (men's -100 kg) managed to climb to the 5th place with 888 points. His countryman B.Temuulen has been listed 15th place with 580 points.
A State Honored Sportswoman M.Bundmaa has kept her rank with 1,302 points in the updated list and she is following two Japanese Nishida Yuka (2,100 points) and Nakamura Misato (1,360 points).
Other women M.Urantsetseg (48 kg), Ts.Monkhzaya (63 kg) and P.Lhamdegd (-78 kg) have been listed among first 22 places.
Judoists of first 22 places in each weight category will be automatically qualified to compete in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

A master of sports P.Orkhon won a bronze medal in the 40th international tournament named after Yasar Dogu, concluded last weekend in Ankara, Turkey. She has competed at women's 55 kg contest.
Mongolian national team was represented there by three wrestlers. This year's tournament attracted 245 wrestlers from 23 countries.
