Syrian President: Summit is Historic Opportunity to Rearrange Arab Affairs
Jeddah, May 19, 2023, SPA – Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said that the Arab Summit is a historic opportunity to rearrange Arab affairs, which requires repositioning within the multipolar world, emphasizing the importance of building on the positive atmosphere that resulted from the reconciliation efforts ahead of the summit.
Delivering a speech at the 32nd Arab Summit, held in Jeddah, President Al-Assad called for defining Arab identity according to its comprehensive and wider civilization dimension rather than from the state of conflicts among nationalist, ethnic, and religious factions.
“Meeting today during a time of global turbulence, hope remains high in light of intra-Arab and regional rapprochement which culminated in this summit, which I hope would constitute the beginning of a new phase of joint Arab action to enhance solidarity among us and cooperation to achieve peace, development, and prosperity for our region instead of war and destruction,” the president said.
President Al-Assad voiced appreciation for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH the Crown Prince for the tremendous efforts they exerted in achieving regional reconciliation, expressing his sincere wishes of progress and prosperity for the Kingdom’s government and people.
