TGA Heads Saudi Arabia's Delegation to IMO Subcommittee Meeting in London

London, August 24, 2023, SPA -- The Transport General Authority (TGA) headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the meeting of the Subcommittee on the Implementation of International Maritime Organization (IMO) Instruments, which was held at IMO headquarters in London.
The goal of the meeting was to develop and update mandatory provisions, by bringing together flag, port and coastal states to consider implementation issues, including the analysis of consolidated audit summary reports from the mandatory IMO member state Audit Scheme, support the effective implementation of IMO instruments, and review the long-term challenges related to compliance with these instruments.
Several government and private agencies representatives were part of the delegation, namely from the Transport General Authority, MAWANI General Port Authority, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, The General Directorate of the Border Guard, Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority, and NEOM company.
The meeting discussed important topics on the agenda, such as draft amendments to port state control procedures, assisting member states in the implementation of the Cape Town Convention, updating the manual for the implementation of the Department of International Safety Code, and adopting final amendments to the inspection guideline draft.
