50 Years Of Glorious Sarawak Exhibition Gets Good Response

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), July 23 (Bernama) -- The ongoing 50 Years of Glorious Sarawak exhibition being held here until Sept 29 in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Sarawak's independence, has received good response from members of the public, both locals and tourists alike. Launched by East Malaysia state of Sarawak Governor Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng on Monday, it depicts Sarawak's history of development - showcasing the state’s pre-independence period, independence, political awakening, agricultural sector, industrial development, social development and the communist insurgency era. An American tourist, Renata Belash from San Francisco, California, who was visiting Malaysia for the first time, was very impressed with the exhibition, especially since she knew very little about Sarawak, one of the two Malaysian states located on the island of Borneo. "This exhibition has a lot of good information. Congratulations on your independence day anniversary," she told Bernama here, Tuesday. Belash, who earlier went to Thailand for a vacation with her daughter, Anika, found Kuching a "very peaceful and relaxing" city. The exhibition venue is located strategically at the Sarawak Tourism Complex near the Kuching waterfront, which is a popular tourist spot and city icon. -- BERNAMA
