More Efforts Needed To Boost Tourism In Port Dickson

PORT DICKSON (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Efforts must be stepped up to add value to and make southern district Port Dickson a major tourism destination. Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen said tourism programmes and packages needed to be diversified to lure tourists to the district. "The Port Dickson beaches are renowned as a holiday destination among domestic and foreign tourists. However, efforts to boost its attraction must be done from time to time," she said after witnessing a tatoo show at the Army Basic Training Centre (Pusasda), here, Sunday night. Also present was army chief Gen Zulkifli Zainal Abidin. She said Port Dickson was often associated with the military as Pusasda and many military camps were located there. "For example, the army tatoo show is a suitable initiative for the military and the public, and can be turned into a tourism product." As such, Dr Ng said, a Tourism Ministry-army committee would be set up to promote the tourism products in Port Dickson to domestic and international visitors, especially from Asean countries "We must plan something along the lines of a week-long carnival in Port Dickson, so tourists can stay longer here. At the same time, they can enjoy the packages to destinations in the district," she added. -- BERNAMA Malaysia tourism
