Police Bicycle Brigade In Terengganu's Island

BESUT (Terengganu, Malaysia), July 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian east coast state of Terengganu police are planning to form a 'bicycle brigade' to make it safer for tourists holidaying at the scenic Redang and Perhentian islands. State police chief Jamshah Mustapa said the new unit of bicycle-riding policemen would make crime prevention patrols much easier and save on energy, as well. Speaking to reporters here Saturday, he said the unit was part of a collaboration between the police and Terengganu Tourism Malaysia to boost the state tourism industry by making the islands safer for tourists. Previously, the state police had launched its bicycle patrol for beaches and town areas at Pasar Payang, Pantai Batu Buruk and Tamadun Islam Park, among others. -- BERNAMA
