Putrajaya A Model City In Islamic Architecture - PPj President
PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The Putrajaya International Islamic Arts and Cultural Festival, held here from Nov 1 to 10, could make Putrajaya a model city in Islamic elements including architecture and urban management.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president, Aseh Che Mat said the two-day International Conference on Architecture and Built Environment 2013 (ICABE 2013) themed "Redefining the Concept of Islamic Architecture and Built Environment" was also held from Thursday in conjunction with the festival.
"The ICABE received good response, with Islamic religious scholars, researchers, intellectuals and students in the field of architecture and built environment participating," he said in his speech when closing the conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, here, Friday night.
Also present was the International Islamic University Malaysian rector, Prof Dr Zaleha Kamaruddin.
Aseh said the two events could generate creative ideas and innovativeness in taking Islamic culture, architecture and built environment to a higher level since the glorious days of Islam in Andalusia, Spain.
Putrajaya is one of the three federal territories in Malaysia, a planned city 25km south of Kuala Lumpur and serves as Malaysia's new administrative centre.
