Thai government plans post-flood tourism stimulus
BANGKOK, December 28 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says that her administration is expediting post-flood rehabilitation plans, covering tourism stimulus measures and sales of consumer products with special discounts.
Yingluck acknowledged that the government's rehabilitation plans represent the government’s commitment to revitalize Thailand and people’s normal ways of life as quickly as possible in the wake of massive floods over the past couple of months.
According to the Pheu Thai premier, the post-flood measures also include official services on repairing local infrastructure and damaged houses and fixing household appliances and equipment, with centres for the government services having been set up in flood-hit areas.
The prime minister, who inaugurated a No.5-label energy-saving electrical and electronic products fair at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangna area on Tuesday, noted that the nine-day event, scheduled from December 27, 2011-January 4, 2012, is also part of her government's post-flood rehabilitation programmes to provide affected people with new and low energy-consuming products to save their budgets.
