Tourism Malaysia Achieves Target of 3.4 Mln Visitors From Indonesia

By Mohd Shukri Ishak BANDUNG (Indonesia), Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Tourism Malaysia in Indonesia has achieved the target of attracting 3.4 million Indonesian tourists to Malaysia in 2018. Tourism Malaysia director of Indonesia, Roslan Othman said the target was achieved as of October 2018, and that it was expected to rise to 3.5 million tourists by year’s end "Indonesia is the country with the second highest number of tourists visiting Malaysia (after Singapore) and we (Tourism Malaysia) are diversifying tourism products in Malaysia to be marketed in Indonesia," he told Bernama here. He said food tourism packages in states such as Kedah, Penang and Perak were being promoted in major cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Yogyakarta. He said the strategy of promoting as Malaysia a 'food paradise' was a new approach in the effort to enhance the country's tourism industry, in line with the target of bringing in 3.8 million Indonesian tourists per year to Malaysia by 2020.      -- BERNAMA
