Tourists show great interest in Bodrum castle and museum

MUGLA (A.A) - November 8, 2011 - Tourists showed great interest in Bodrum castle and underwater archeology museum in Turkey's southwestern province of Mugla.
The castle and museum hosted 280,090 tourists in the first nine months of 2011.
Underwater archeology museum takes place in Bodrum Castle which was built by the Knights Hospitaller between 1406 and 1523.
The museum displays pieces which were found in Uluburun antique sunken --world's known oldest sunken.
Bodrum Castle and underwater archeology museum's Director Yasar Yildiz told AA on Tuesday that Bodrum Castle has been serving as a museum since 1964, adding that the interest of tourists in the castle was increasing each year.
Yildiz said that they hosted 253,801 tourists in 2010, adding that 280,980 tourists have visited the castle between January and October 2011.
We expect this figure to reach 300,000 by the end of this year, he noted.
