Turkish Parliament Member to QNA: Erdogan Will Win due to Wide Popular Support

Ankara, May 10 (QNA) - Turkish parliament foreign relations committee member Hasan Turan emphasized the importance of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14, assuring that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will win these elections due to his wide popularity in the country.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Turan pointed to Turkiye's recent gains and progress in the defense industries sector, finding itself markets in the global defense industry as well as other giant projects. He considered that this disturbs world powers and makes them, according to his opinion, want President Erdogan not to win. However, Turan saw President Erdogan as being on his way to achieving victory thanks to his strong popular base which enables him to overcome such attempts.
Turan said that he believes that the Justice and Development (AK) Party and the People's Alliance will emerge victorious from these elections once again, and that the 13th president will be Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkiye will reap in the near future the fruits of 20 years of serious work, with the resumption in local cars and drones manufacturing, predicting that the economy will improve, he added.
The foreign relations committee member explained that the AK Party will work in the coming period to improve the economic situation in Turkiye and provide citizens with a more comfortable economic environment, especially given the recent rise in inflation and high cost of living, indicating intentions to extending a helping hand to all segments of society, especially citizens affected by the earthquake. He pointed out that work at full speed was made in disaster-affected areas, resulting with the beginning of the hand over process - something he believes no other country can do, stressing that this is all thanks to Erdogan's leadership.
Turan expected Erdogan to take further steps in the fields of science, industry, and technology, saying that his party is determined to increase Turkiye's presence in defense industries from 80 percent to 100 percent, and that Turkiye will set an example to be followed in its policy of standing upright when it comes to foreign policy, stressing that his country will continue to implement its role as a peace mediator, as is the case between Ukraine and Russia.
Regarding his Party's strategy in the next stage in the event of President Erdogan's victory, Turan said that it is to support righteousness and justice everywhere, as well as to remind the world that it consists of more than just five countries, ending the world order based on exploitation, and instead materializing a world of equal treatment and rights for all countries, in addition to establishing justice in the distribution of health services, transportation, and access to energy and food.
The presidential electoral race is limited to four candidates: current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the People's Alliance, opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu for the Nation Alliance, as well as former competitor in the 2018 presidential election, Homeland Party leader Muharrem Ince, and Sinan Ogan for the Ata Alliance.
A total of 24 parties are participating in the parliamentary elections, down from 36 due to forming joint lists or alliances, in addition to 151 independent candidates aiming to win the votes of the 64,113,941 voters. (QNA)
