The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Discusses With The Russian Ambassador Int'l Decisions Of Common Concern

Baghdad / NINA / The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Baghdad, Elbrus Kotrashev, at his request.

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, "During the meeting, they discussed ways to develop relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation, where the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Iraq's pride in its relationship with Russia and its keenness to strengthen it in the next stage and in various fields, appreciating Russia's continuous support for Iraq in the field of combating terrorism."

  The statement added: "The meeting discussed some draft international resolutions presented to the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), of common interest, and the possibility of concluding mutual support deals for nomination to occupy positions in international organizations."

  The Russian ambassador thanked the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the good organization of Iraq for the recent visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Baghdad, stressing his country's keenness to cooperate with Iraq at all levels./ End
