Undersecretary of MOEHE to QNA: We Seek to Expand, Invest in Science, Technology Education Sector

Doha, May 22 (QNA) - HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi stressed that science and technology education is currently one of the State of Qatar's priorities, pointing out that the ministry seeks to expand in this vital and important sector for students, according to procedures that are undergoing work.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony of the second batch of students of Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys, His Excellency explained that the distinguished education provided by the school is based on the STEM system, which is a specialized program in the four subjects from which its name is derived, namely: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is one of the most important programs aimed at qualifying students in the field of engineering, medicine and technology to enroll in the best local and international universities, he added.
His Excellency highlighted the State of Qatar's keenness to provide this type of education for its students and to expand it, as it is the future of education that must be invested in.
Dr. Al Nuaimi expressed his pride in this outstanding batch of 55 graduates of the school, all of whom have been accepted into prestigious universities in Qatar as well as abroad, extending thanks to the school administration and its teaching staff for their sincere efforts in this regard. He also congratulated the students for their graduation, wishing them a remarkable academic future to serve their country and society.
It is noteworthy that the term STEM is the abbreviation of the first 4 letters of the four scientific subjects, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This educational system aims to integrate the four educational subjects mentioned in the basic educational curricula and to mix and link them. Thus, it qualifies students to gain scientific and practical experiences to enroll in the best universities around the globe, as well as contribute to improving educational outcomes in a better way.
In a similar statement, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at MOEHE Dr. Khalid Al Ali told QNA that this type of education is currently one of the priorities of Qatar's educational policy, given the country's urgent need for graduates in scientific fields.
He congratulated the school administration, teachers, students and their guardians on the outstanding success, wishing that all these efforts world be crowned by joining scholarships, so that these graduates can complete their studies and work on the development and advancement of Qatar.
What is striking is the interest of Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys in the moral and ethical aspects of students and the focus in what it offers on the basis of these values and instilling them in children, in addition to advanced education in the field of science and technology.
Dr. Al Ali expressed his aspiration to open a new school for this type of distinguished education for girls in the future, as it does not only serve students but serves the state as well, calling on graduates to focus on the next university stage of their academic lives.
During the graduation ceremony of the second batch, Principal of Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys Mohammed Ali Mandani Al Emadi noted the graduates' patience and endurance during four years to overcome all difficulties and challenges, represent their country in all forums, and win advanced positions in many local and international competitions.
The school, he noted, spared no effort in enriching their educational journey with everything new and useful, with every permanent influential experience, and with the consolidation of values. He congratulated the graduates calling on them to be citizens beneficial to themselves, their society and their country.
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Abdullah Al Mehshadi said education is one of the most important pillars of the society progress. It aims to build conscious generations capable of giving and advancing their homeland, he said. In light of the rapid development the world is witnessing in the education system, this majestic scientific edifice, represented by the Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys, was established to embody the development of education on the land of Qatar in its best form, he said.
He stated that the school's mission and goals are to graduate a generation of scientists and researchers in the fields of science, medicine, technology and engineering, which are the fields that enhance the need of the labor market in the State of Qatar and contribute to its progress and advancement.
Dr. Al Mehshadi touched on the school's distinguished quality education and the attractive and stimulating learning environment provided to support creativity and innovation as well as keenness on providing educational experiences that enable students to develop their skills in research, design, critical thinking and problem-solving and contribute to building their creativity, competitiveness, in addition to providing full support to talented students through training programs in cooperation with external partners in universities and scientific and research institutions.
