Parliament of the sixth convocation has launched its first autumn session.
20 years has passed since the establishment of parliament with permanent activity in Mongolia. Of 76 parliament members, 54 were present at the opening ceremony of the first autumn session of parliament formed as a result of the six democratic parliament elections held in 2012.
Presently, the State Great Khural is working with 71 members out of 76, hence re-elections are expected in some election constituencies and one member has not taken the oath yet. Despite insufficient quorum, parliament has launched its session in accordance with the principles of the Constitution promulgating the maintenance of uninterrupted state activity.
Parliament of the sixth convocation is special for having the largest number or 9 women – members. This number might increase as a result of the upcoming re-elections.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold stressed that although the economy of Mongolia has increasingly enhanced, it is indispensable to provide long-term balanced and effective economic growth capable to overcome negative impact of foreign economies through improving the internal economic immunity and reducing risks.
Both the Parliament and Government have to improve the legal environment of the mineral and other sectors and adhere to principles of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign investors.
