Investment in Cement Industry To Provide 1,000 Jobs In Aceh

Banda Aceh, April 24 (Antara) - Investment plan in cement industry in Pidie District, Aceh province is expected to provide at least 1,000 jobs, a study showed. At least 1,000 jobs will be provided in three years of construction of a cement factory to be built in Pidie District, Commercial Director of PT Samana Citra Agung Andaman Ibrahim said here on Wednesday. PT Samana Citra Agung has been named to study the feasibility of investment in cement industry in Aceh for PT Semen Indonesia, a state company. "Based on our estimate the project will need at least 3,000 workers during the three years of construction," Andaman Ibrahim said. "PT Samana Citra Agung will provide location suitable for the project with the source of the raw material for PT Semen Indonesia," he said. He said PT Semen Indonesia will build the factory and supporting infrastructure based on the study. He said PT Samana Citra already has the right location where the project with port facility is to be built and 1,558 hectares of limestone mines in Pidie District to feed the factory. He said administrative preparations for the project could be wrapped up this year and the factory is expected to be operational in 2016 or 2017. "The factory will need 400 permanent workers after it has been fully operational," he said. PT Samana Citra Agung has discussed the plan with Aceh governor Zaini Abdullah, who fully supports the implementation of the project.
