Cultural Dance Competition To Be Held In Conjunction With Semadang Tagang Festival

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia) Aug 2 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with the fourth edition of the Semadang International Tagang Festival from Aug 31 to Sept 2, a traditional dance and music competition will be held. Competition coordinator Monica Molad said the event, which is open to all Bidayuh cultural clubs or groups in Penrissen, Padawan, Serian, Siburan, Kuching, Bau and West Kalimantan would take place on Aug 1 at Kampung Semadang, Jalan Puncak Borneo, about 40 km from here. “Each team must consist of a group of musicians and dancers. If we receive more than eight entries, a qualifying round will be held to pick the best teams for the final," she said here. She said the winning team would take home a RM1,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate while the second and third place winner would receive RM700 and RM500 cash prize, respectively, along with a trophy and a certificate. The entry fee is RM50 per team and all entries must be sent to the organiser before 5 pm on Aug 25.
