Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018 All Set To Open Saturday

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The nine-day Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018, Malaysia’s largest flower and garden festival, opens Saturday and is expected to attract the largest number of visitors on Aug 31, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said Friday. This is because the National Day celebration will be held in Putrajaya. “Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018 is now ready to receive visitors; only some touch-up remains to be done,” he said to reporters during a visit to the Perak Royal Garden and Floral Pavilion at the site of the event here. Earlier, during the soft launch of the flower and garden festival, Khalid reportedly said the festival that would be held at the Anjung Floria Event Centre in Precinct 4 here was expected to attract about 1.5 million visitors. The Royal Floria Putrajaya 2018, with its theme ’10 Wonders of Floria’, will showcase all the 10 flowers that have been used as its themes from 2007 to 2016 including the hibiscus, orchid, heliconia, rose, bougainvillea, lily and chrysanthemum. Khalid said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, will launch the event. The cost of organising the event was about RM3 million, with RM2 million coming from the ministry and over RM1 million from the Putrajaya Corporation, he said. -- BERNAMA
