Better economy, less political conflicts top Thais’ 2013 wish list

BANGKOK, December 29 (TNA) - Better economy and more political stability were ranked first and second on Thai people's wish list for 2013, according to a poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). The NIDA Poll, conducted across Thailand from December 24-25 with 1,247 respondents, under the title of “Their 2012 Happiness and Their 2013 Wish”, found that nearly half of those surveyed, or 45.38 per cent, wanted to see goods prices to go down and to have better quality of life in 2013, while 30.71 per cent of them hoped to see less political conflicts and stable democracy in the country, as well as unity among Thai people. Moral development in Thai people was ranked third among their 2013 wish list at 10.94 per cent, followed by nationwide 3G coverage at 6.08 per cent. The NIDA Poll also found that about a quarter of the respondents, or 25.26 per cent, hoped to get a job promotion or a new job next year; while 23.66 per cent said they hoped for a pay rise. 22.05 per cent wanted to have a good family and 18.36 per cent wanted good health. When asked to name the happiest thing for them in 2012, 45.71 per cent of the respondents said having a happy family, 19.41 per cent said having a good job and 16.12 per cent said having a good health.
