Chinese Cultural Centre opened in Bangkok
BANGKOK, November 21 (TNA) - Visiting Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra jointly presided over a ceremony to open the Chinese Cultural Centre in Bangkok on Wednesday to further strengthen long-standing bilateral relations between China and Thailand.
During the ceremony, also present by senior authorities of both countries, Yingluck said Sino-Thai relations have progressed for centuries and a number of young Thai people are now studying Chinese cultures and languages.
Yingluck said he hopes that the Chinese Cultural Centre will support education and enhance bilateral relations, and that a Thai cultural centre will also be opened in China in the near future.
The Chinese Cultural Centre stands behind the Thailand Cultural Centre in the heart of the Thai capital, resulting from a bilateral agreement between China and Thailand on the opening of their cultural centres in each other’s country to promote cultural exchanges, mutual understanding and education.
The new Chinese Cultural Centre, which is open to students and the general public, shows off applied Chinese architecture and consists of an exhibition area, space for cultural performances and activities, a library and a Chinese-language school. (TNA)
