Egypt taking steps to ensure security in tourist resorts - president

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/. Egypt is making every effort to ensure the safety of tourists, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi told TASS First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman in an exclusive interview following his visit to Moscow. "Any country which receives guests needs to ensure their safety because a tourist wants to have a rest and to have a good time and not to be frightened or be under threat," the Egyptian leader said. "I want to assure you that we are making a great effort to ensure security of such tourist areas as Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Luxor so that they are away from any threats that may emerge on Egypt’s territory," he said. The president said the Egyptian side expects to see a significant increase in the number of Russian tourists. Last year, the figure reached 3.5 million people. "This is not a lot," the Egyptian leader said, adding: "We would like to increase this figure by two-fold or three-fold."
