Hermits Will Cast Their Votes In Election
Magelang, C Java, April 8 (Antara) - Hermits at the Trappist Rowoseneng monastery in Temanggung said they will exercise their voting rights during the legislative election to be held on April 9, 2014, across the nation.
"These hermits were ready to vote at the nearest polling station near the monastery complex," Kevikepan Kedu Catholic Church chief Father FX Krisno Handoyo said here on Tuesday.
Romo Krisno was recently asked by the hermits to explain the legislative election process, including how to cast their votes with the ballots.
"I was asked to explain everything about the upcoming legislative election so that they can cast their votes," Krisno said.
The Monastery is located in the mountains about 20 miles from Temanggung city.
An employee of the Trappist Rowoseneng Monastery, Yatno, said previously the local election officials had sent the election invitation letter to the hermits.
Yatno said there were 11 eligible voters in the Monastery, which consisted of 30 people.
Ngemplak village voting committee member Warih Mustika confirmed that officers had sent the election invitation letter to the hermits in the monastery to invite them to vote in the local polling station.
