Kyrgyzstan hopes for speedy opening of borders with EAEU countries - Economy Minister

BISHKEK, May 19. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan hopes that its borders with the Eurasian Economic Union member-countries will open soon, Kyrgyzstan’s Economy Minister Oleg Pankratov told a meeting of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday.
According to Pankratov, Bishkek was doing its utmost to speed up the beginning of the free movement of Kyrgyz goods and services within the framework of this organization. "Therefore, we will ask our colleagues from other countries to ratify the packages of documents before the beginning of summer vacations in the national parliaments," he said. The minister noted that the agreements on Kyrgyzstan’s full-scale accession to the Eurasian Economic Union signed on May 8 would come into force only after they were ratified by the legislative authorities of the EAEU member-countries.
"The EAEU bodies, which are supra-national, have no opportunity to influence the parliaments," the minister said. "So, we can only ask them to speed up the process, which we will do." Pankratov also noted that the Kyrgyz side had no serious disagreements with its EAEU partners over the conditions for joining this economic union. On the other hand, the official Bishkek wants its systems of veterinary and phytosanitary control not to be subject to "additional" audits.
The Eurasian Economic Union comprises Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia. On May 8, the organization’s member-countries signed the Treaty on Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the EAEU.
