Pha-ngan, Samui Islands operate more ferry crossing during New Year holidays
SURAT THANI, THAILAND, December 29 (TNA) - Ferry operators in Thailand’s southern resort Surat Thani province are offering more crossing services from the provincial mainland to the Pha-ngan and Samui Islands to cope with rising passengers during the ongoing New Year holidays, as the sky is clear and the sea is calm in Surat Thani, apparently suitable for sea journey.
Boonsiri Deawwanich, the operator of Racha Ferrry, said on Saturday that the number of tourists using ferry crossing services to the Pha-ngan and Samui Islands has increased to 10,000 daily since December 27, 2012 and his company, which currently operates 13 ferries, will continue offering more services to make sure that no passengers are left stranded.
Meanwhile, traffic jams, as long as about one kilometer were reported Saturday morning at the two piers, located in Surat Thani's Muang District, as a large number of international tourists used ferry crossing services to the two resort islands. (TNA)
