Yogyakarta To Launch E-Sure System To Monitor Slum Areas
YOGYAKARTA, June 9 (Antara) - The Yogyakarta city government is planning to launch an "Electronic Slum Upgrading Report" (E-SURe) to monitor developments in the handling of slum areas in the quest to make Yogyakarta slum-free by 2019.
"We plan to launch the E-SURe information system this month, so that the local residents are able to know online the progress achieved in handling slum areas," Public Works Department of the Housing and Settlement Area Chief Agus Tri Haryono remarked here on Thursday.
According to Haryono, this information system will bring together various slum handling programs implemented by relevant agencies, so that the development of slum areas can be monitored comprehensively.
Currently, he said the handling of slum areas is still done sectorally and has not been centralized, so it is not easy to know the progress achieved or obtain data of the handling of slum areas.
"Each local agency or organization has a program for handling slum areas, and through this information system, all data can be incorporated, so that the developments in slum areas can be easily monitored," he noted.
Meanwhile, Head of the Housing and Environmental Improvement Section of the Public Works Department of the Housing and Settlement Area of Yogyakarta City Yunita Rahmi Hapsari said that the information system will contain data regarding developments in handling slum areas.
"This will provide encouragement to other communities to play an active role in dealing with slum areas in their environment," she said, adding that the information system will also be equipped with thematic maps that contain data on slum handling programs that have been implemented.
