Analyst Hails NAM’s Position On Iran At IAEA Meet

Islamabad, March 11, IRNA – Pakistani political and defense analyst on Saturday said that Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) states have taken a principled position at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors meeting by supporting Iranian nuclear program.
NAM’s statement has welcomed Iran’s constructive measure and cooperation in holding two rounds of talks with senior officials of the agency led by IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts in Tehran to resolve the outstanding issues.
Talking to IRNA, Shireen Mazari criticized US for not following the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) agenda over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
She said that the real issue is that US has an unprincipled position on Iran, ‘they are not following the NPT agenda; in fact they are pursuing anti-Iran agenda.’
The analyst replying to a question said Iran is cooperating with the IAEA on its nuclear program.
“We have to respect the Iranian stance over its peaceful nuclear program because so far there is no evidence available which shows that Iran is pursuing a military oriented nuclear program,” Shireen Mazari noted.
Expressing her views over the statement of Iran's Ambassador to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh that assassinations of Iran's nuclear scientists in the 21st century were evident violation of Charter of the United Nations, Shireen Mazari said that these acts are the trademark of Israeli terrorism.
“They go into any country and kill their scientists, no doubt it is an open violation of UN charter”, she added.
The analyst said that support of NAM is an achievement for Iran. She said that the NAM has taken a principled position over Iran because they believe that today US is targeting Iran without any justification.
“It is a welcoming step by NAM”, said Shireen Mazari.
