Iran FM Calls For Regional Interaction To Resolve Syrian Crisis

Tehran, May 7, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined the need for interaction of all influential regional countries to resolve the Syrian crisis. Salehi made the remark in a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabaniˈs wife, Hero Ibrahim Ahmed, here in Tehran on Sunday. Iraqˈs first lady, heading a high-ranking delegation comprising senior officials of Iraqi Kurdistanˈs Workers Party (PUK), arrived in Tehran on Sunday to discuss bilateral ties and the latest political development with Iranian officials. Salehi pointed to the enemiesˈ efforts and plots to bring to a halt or slow down the trend of stability, security and development of regional countries, including Iraq, and expressed hope that all political groups and different political currents in Iraq, especially Kurds should vigilantly maintain their solidarity and internal integrity in line with the noble interests of their country and also their people. Iraqˈs first lady, for her part, expressed satisfaction with her meeting with Salehi, praising the special attention of Iranˈs Supreme Leader, government and people to Iraqi affairs. Ibrahim Ahmed described Iran and Iraq as two great countries with ancient civilization and culture in the region which play very effective and important roles in bringing about all-out stability, security and development to the Middle East./end
