Iran Official Accuses Saudi Ambassador Of Lying

Cairo, May 9, IRNA – Head of Iran Interest Section in Egypt Mojtaba Amani, in an interview with the Egyptian Newspaper “Al-Youm”, criticizing the Saudi Arabian government, accused the Saudi ambassador to Cairo of lying.
Amani said that certain sections of media that are dependent on Saudi Arabia are disseminating fake accusations against Iran.
He added sources of these accusations are always unknown and their inaccuracy is always proved later.
He underlined that Saudi envoy and government tell lies and Saudi attaché in Cairo has claimed that Iran has tried to assassinate Saudi ambassador in Cairo and two Iranians have been arrested in this concern, but Egyptian officials denied the claim later.
Amani added whatever has been published about the arrest of two Iranians is not true and no Iranian citizen has been accused or arrested in Egypt, but , unfortunately, the accusations, in spite of Egypt's denial, are repeated again and again.
Amani continued that the accusation against Iran to help weapon smuggling from Libya to the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula is baseless and this is an effort of Saudi government with the aim of entering Iran’s name in the crisis of relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
He underlined that Tehran does not interfere in such issues.
'Saudi Arabia had better solve its problems with Egypt instead of accusing others,' said the Iranian official.
'We are surprised that Saudi Arabia is worried about close relations between Tehran and Cairo.' said Amani, 'We have trade and political relations with Saudi Arabia and an embassy in Riyadh, so the accusations are not justifiable.'
The interview will be published on Wednesday May 9, 2012./end
