M.Batchimeg MP meets UNDP Consultant

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A member of parliament M.Batchimeg Friday received a delegation headed by Mr Philip Peirce, a Development Consultant at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Their meeting focused on a draft law on border checkpoint to be considered by parliament soon. The UNDP is experienced in refining upon a management and functions of border checkpoints in Central Asian and European countries, Mr Pierce noted and expressed a readiness to cooperate with Mongolia in this direction. Mentioning that this meeting was well-timed, Ms Batchimeg said is is a matter of urgency that Mongolia develops its border checkpoints and fortifies skills of staffers. "So it is also vital for us to collaborate with the UN in three main directions--to create and develop a complex management for border checkpoints, to have professional and methodological assistance in working out a related policy and improving legal environment, and to prepare experts and involve them in long-term mid-career trainings and courses," Ms Batchimeg said. Mr Pierce expressed a readiness of the UN to cooperate with Mongolia in these matters. The sides agreed to analyze opportunities to realize the above works.
