Turkish Official:Tehran-Ankara Co-op Effective In Region

Palembang, Jan 31, IRNA - Turkish National Parliament Speaker Cemil Cecik on Monday said Iran-Turkey cooperation can effectively solve problems facing the Middle East region.
He made the remark in a meeting with Iran's Majlis speaker Ali Larijani on the sidelines of the 7th General Assembly Meeting of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union in Palembang, Indonesia.
Cecik said Islamic civilization has brought welfare and fortune for all Islamic countries and the new developments in the region also paved the ways for development of Islamic countries.
He described Larijani’s recent visit to Turkey and his negotiations with Turkish officials as important for both countries and other regional countries as a whole.
The Turkish National Parliament Speaker said Iran and Turkey share similar views on the Middle Eastern nations.
Larijani said the two countries' parliamentary cooperation can be a good example for other parliaments of regional states.
He describes the role of Iran and Turkey in Asian and Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union as vital and called for further cooperation between the two countries' parliaments within regional and international organizations.
The two day meeting started today in which parliamentarians from 33 Islamic countries including 15 parliament speakers are present.
The meeting is due to review the most important issues of Islamic world such as Islamic Awakening, Qods, Palestine’s membership in United Nations, making the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction, new technologies and using atomic energy for peaceful purposes, fight against terrorism and sustainable development./end
