VP Renews Iran's Support For Syria

Tehran, Jan 9, IRNA – First Vice-President, by referring to recent statement of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on implementation of reforms in the country, said Iran supports the issue and considers it as a step toward establishment of stability and security in Syria. According to the report of Presidential Office website on Tuesday, Mohammad Reza Rahimi in a telephone conversation with Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halki, underlined necessity of constant consultations and meetings between officials of both countries. He said terrorists and aliens should know that Syrian nation wants peace and reforms and foreign interference is not acceptable for them. Al-Halki, for his part, appreciated Iran's stances in support for Syria and said that people of Syria are resisting against enemies and invaders and will not allow aliens to interfere in internal affairs of their country. Referring to his upcoming visit to Iran, he said that he will discuss issues of mutual interest with Iranian officials and will follow up previously signed agreements./end
