Commander: US Vessels In PG, Easy Targets For Iran

Tehran, April 17, IRNA – The presence of American vessels in the Persian Gulf serves propaganda purposes for the US while they are considered as just easy targets for Iran, Iran Army Commander Brigadier General Ataollah Salehi said on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters after the military parade staged by the armed forces to commemorate National Army Day, the commander said the presence of the foreign vessels in the Persian Gulf region is not an important military issue to Iran given the extensive presence of American warships in some of the Persian Gulf states. Salehi believed holding of today's parade near the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini downtown Tehran provided great spiritual support for the army. He stressed that certain foreign forces which dream of threatening the Islamic Republic of Iran must know that the armed forces are always ready to defend the country. The Army commander underlined that Iran’s armed forces are capable of providing and maintaining security in the region by further cooperation with the regional countries./end
