UAE Not Following Independent Foreign Policy: Pakistani Religious Leader

Islamabad, May 2, IRNA – Former Chief of Pakistan’s top religious party on Tuesday said that UAE claims regarding the Iranian island show that the country is not following an independent foreign policy. Talking to IRNA, former Chief of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that there is no doubt that Washington is influencing the UAE in making such statements. He reiterated that the US is also behind the recent UAE military exercises. He added that the US and West have been attempting to divide Muslim Ummah by creating discords. Qazi Ahmad regretted that the United Arab Emirates had reacted to the visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Abu Musa Island. The religious leader was of the view that the Abu Dhabi government should keep in mind that Iraq war was an American conspiracy against Iran. Jamat-e-Islami (JI) leader advised UAE not to tar its relations with Iran under American influence and urged the UAE government to enjoy strong ties with the regional countries especially Iran. He urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to devise a strategy to solve the problems of Muslim Ummah./end
