Soltanieh Announces Iran’s Emphasis For Int’l Nuke Disarmament

Vienna, May 8, IRNA – Islamic Republic of Iran’s Permanent Ambassador to IAEA Ali-Asqar Soltanieh reiterated here Wednesday Iran’s emphasizes need for international ban on nuclear arms proliferation, in accordance with nuclear NPT.
Soltanieh, who was speaking at a meeting of the preliminary session of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Revision Conference, further emphasized, “If the NPT would be fully implemented it can affect the international peace and security very positively.
The history of proliferation of nuclear arms was clicked with the production, testing and usage of such weapons by the United States during the course of the World War II, leading to a chain reaction of their greater production and stockpiling in other countries.”
Referring to the numerous cases of breaching the articles of NPT by the nuclear armed countries, such as the United States, France, and Britain, Soltanieh said, “Stationing of hundreds of tactical US nuclear missiles in the soil of the European Union countries is obvious breaching of the NPT articles both by the United States and by the host countries.”
Iran’s ambassador at the agency meanwhile criticized the export control regimes applied by some western countries beyond the NPT agreements, aimed at creating extra limitations in nuclear technology transfer, arguing, “Cooperation of these export control groups with the non-NPT members which have active nuclear arm programs is another obvious breaching of the NPT treaty and the agreements reached at the NPT revision conferences.”
Soltaniyeh seriously criticized the nuclear cooperation of the United States and some European countries, such as France and Britain, with the usurper racist Zionist regime, stressing that such cooperation is serious breaching of those countries’ commitments according to the NPT articles.
Referring to the leaking out of top confidential information from the IAEA Secretariat Office, Soltanieh reiterated, “Such a process can endanger the national security of the member countries, as well as the persons and scientists who have cooperation with the IAEA inspectors, and therefore, the sick process needs to be amended quickly./end
