Jakarta City Police Arrest Online Gambling Kingpin

Jakarta, Nov 7 (Antara) - The Jakarta City Police (Polda Metro Jaya) took an online gambling kingpin suspect named Hartono, also known as Min Lung, into custody in West Jakarta. "He facilitated toggle gambling (illegal predicting of numbers) and soccer betting for the costumers using cellphones and the internet," Chief of Subdirectorate of Mobile Detective of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Adjunct Senior Commissioner Didik Sugiarto stated here on Friday. The police arrested Hartono at the Taman Palem Lestari Cengkareng Housing Complex in West Jakarta. In the meantime, Chief of Unit V of the Mobile Detective Subdirectorate Adjunct Senior Commissioner Handik Zusen remarked that the police were on the lookout for any online gambling activities. They conducted surveillance on a website, www.idolaxxx.com, suspected to be an online gambling site. After thorough investigation, the police arrested Hartono and confiscated some evidence such as four cellular phones, a book containing data on toggle gambling, a laptop, three token keys of Bank Central Asia (BCA), two passbooks of BCA accounts, and five ATM cards of BCA. The police found Rp42.3 million (around US$3,525) in the suspect`s account and another Rp1.9 million (US$158) in his wife`s account. The police also found Rp130.25 million (roughly US$10,854) in Suyanto`s and Budi Gunawan Lim`s bank account, which was suspected to be used for money transactions related to online gambling. The suspect violated Article 303 of the Criminal Law on gambling and money laundering.
