Bangkok police arrest local drug lord

BANGKOK, July 31 (TNA) - Bangkok Police arrested a local drug lord, seizing drugs and assets, worth over ten million baht in total after tracking him from members of his network. Acting Metropolitan Police commissioner Pol Lt-General Sanit Mahathavorn said in a press conference that the police arrested major drug dealer Watcharachai Nateroj and other six suspects, who are members of his network. Four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 150,000 methamphetamine pills along with 4.6 million baht of cash, vehicles were seized by the police. The metropolitan police had earlier arrested drug retailers in Don Mueang and RamaIX areas before the police could track down Watcharacjhai, the major drug trafficker, who supplied the illegal drug to members of his network. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to buying drugs from the northern border and storing it at a place in Samut Prakarn before delivering the drugs to his customers through post. For distribution, the drugs were packed in plastic and lead to hide the smell and avoid detection by the x-ray machine. He said he had been selling the drugs for four months. He has a record of four-year imprisonment in drug trafficking case and was released from jail ten months ago. (TNA)
